FC 27 Kickabouts Guide: Rules, Modes, and Tips

Kickabouts are one of the most casual ways to play in The Grounds in FC 27. Instead of playing a normal football match, each activity gives you a different objective, scoring system, or gameplay rule. They are also useful for earning Archetype XP and Grounds Coins while waiting for Clubmates or taking a break from regular Clubs matches.

There are currently seven Kickabout types: Bocce Ball, Balloon Ball, Bucketball, The Big Race, Team Keep Away, Scenarios, and Goal Control. Here is what you need to know about each one.

Bocce Ball

Bocce Ball is a three-player free-for-all focused on accuracy and positioning. You kick or pass balls toward different target zones, with smaller targets giving more points. Dead Zones can reduce your score, so simply getting the ball near a target is not always enough.

The best approach is to avoid rushing your shots. Take a moment to judge the angle and distance, especially when a smaller target is available. As the round becomes more difficult, careful placement becomes more important than power.

Balloon Ball

Balloon Ball is a four-player free-for-all. Two balls are available on the pitch, and every player starts with three balloons. Hit another player with the ball to remove one of their balloons. Lose all three and you are eliminated.

The key is to balance attacking and survival. Do not chase another player across the entire pitch if it leaves you exposed. Keeping possession and watching nearby opponents can be more valuable than taking every possible shot.

Bucketball

Bucketball is a team activity that combines football with basketball-style scoring. Your objective is to get the ball into the opposing basket. Close-range shots are worth two points, while attempts from beyond the three-point line are worth three. Fouls can also give the other team a free-kick opportunity.

Try to create space before shooting instead of forcing attempts through defenders. Quick passing can also open better angles and make it easier to attack the basket.

The Big Race

The Big Race is all about dribbling and movement. You need to take the ball through an obstacle course while maintaining possession.

Do not treat it like a normal sprint. Controlled dribbling is usually more useful than constantly trying to move at maximum speed. Watch the course ahead and prepare for obstacles instead of reacting at the last second.

Team Keep Away

Team Keep Away is a 3v3 possession game. Your team earns points while controlling the ball, and passing between teammates increases the score multiplier.

The simplest strategy is to keep moving the ball. Do not hold possession for too long when a teammate is open. Short, safe passes can build your multiplier while making it harder for the other team to win the ball.

Scenarios

Scenarios give you a specific objective to complete during the activity. The instruction can change, and some challenges require specific actions, such as scoring with a first-time shot.

Read the objective before attacking. Instead of trying to score immediately, create the exact situation the challenge requires. This is particularly important when playing with a teammate because both players need to understand the current objective.

Goal Control

Goal Control is a 1v1 activity featuring multiple goals around the pitch. Score in a goal to take control of it, while your opponent can reclaim it by scoring in the same goal. You earn points over time based on the number of goals you control.

Do not focus on one goal for too long. If your opponent is controlling several areas, look for an easier goal to capture and build your advantage across the pitch.

Kickabout Tips for New Players

A few habits can make these activities much easier:

Read the information board before joining.
Learn the scoring system before worrying about winning.
Use the map to find active Kickabouts and nearby players.
Check Objectives for additional rewards.
Play with Clubmates when possible.

Kickabouts can also reward Archetype XP and Grounds Coins, so they are more than simple side activities. If you are saving FC 27 Coins or looking at how to manage your wider FC 27 resources, there is no need to rush through these modes. Focus on learning the mechanics first.

The same applies to players who are comparing different ways to spend Fut 27 Coins. Kickabouts are mainly about learning, having fun, and progressing your Clubs experience rather than replacing your normal competitive matches.

Once you understand the basic rules, each mode becomes much easier to enjoy. Bocce Ball rewards accuracy, Balloon Ball rewards survival, Bucketball rewards teamwork, and The Big Race tests ball control. The remaining modes give you different ways to practice passing, finishing, and controlling space, making Kickabouts a useful part of The Grounds.
